My introduction to photography started thirty-something years ago when my dad gave me his old Pentax SV single lens reflex camera that he had bought in Vietnam. It grew into a small hobby, enabled me to serve as one of the photographers on the high school yearbook staff, and gave me direction into what I wanted to major in at college. I pursued a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Photography until one day when I had a major disagreement with my advisor. I walked across campus and changed my major to Environmental Health, which is what I have been practicing for the past twenty-plus years. I kept photography as a small hobby with the key word as small. This website is a tool for me to get back into the craft as a bigger hobby and perhaps combine it with my other interests such as running and travel. Besides continuous improvement in honing my camera skills, my other objectives are to self teach myself the digital darkroom skills in Lightroom and photoshop to enhance my pictures. The self portrait below is from a few years ago when I was a lot lighter, had zero gray hair, and more of it.
